A competition is a time for you to shine and show off your memory skill. So the worse thing to do is test anything new at a competition! Unless crashing and burning is your plan haha You need enough time to figure out all the kinks you run into.

When you memory train, you probably do the same training over and over which is fine but you need to change up your training. Being creative when training allows you to learn new ways to improve! It doesn’t take much to change up your training so try it the next time you train.

Usually, you wouldn't want to backtrack because it would slow you down when learning and memorizing. But at specific times, backtracking can be really useful to help you use memory techniques more effectively! Speed reading says to never backtrack but that is far from true!
